July 2020: A time of deeper learning
I had the courage and determination to revert to one of my original goals for 2020; to stay off social media: newness of surprising kinds (like interesting Podbean podcasts) immediately sprung forth and I felt my life expanding.
I grew lots of flowers (Aster, Cosmos), and swede and chillis from seed on my allotments that I’d never grown before. They all worked out and brought me heaps of joy.
It felt great to have some like-minded human contact (albeit on Zoom), while participating in the consistently excellent Federation of Entertainment Unions workshops and webinars; ‘Dealing with Uncertainty’, ‘Writing for Business’, ‘Mobile Kickstarter’ and ‘Get Motivated’.
Free online ‘Lockdown Lounge’ sessions run by the coaching and mentoring team at Guildhall School Innovation, taught me how to notice and reframe some of my long-standing beliefs about myself and others.
I wrote my 200th poem of 2020!
Feeling determined to engage face-to-face with my local community, I busked with my fiddle on two strings in the ‘theatre’ space at the top of Claybury Park, Ilford. A lady I often see there commented that my music was “lovely” to listen to as she ran up the hill. Below is a video I created on VN of an improvisation I played on guitar whilst sitting on my allotment (which features accompanying photographs of my organic creations taken from between 2016 and 2017).
